The Cadence of her Last Breath Empty The Cadence of her Last Breath

Post  malice Wed Dec 02, 2009 1:24 pm

Sharpe led the two girls into his home and into the parlor where a Steinway Grand Piano sat in perfect condition, along with a Harpsichord. A gold plated chandelier hung from the ceiling, and there were several candle sconches on the walls. They all had the dimming electric candles, but it added the old feel to the room. The rug was Persian, and actually from Persia and dated at over one hundred and ten years old. On the wall hung two swords crossed, each dated back four hundred years to the time of the Scottish Risings in England.
Sharpe came back a few moments later with two glasses of 1947 wine, "Make yourselves at home."
He was still very uneasy about what was about to happen, but he hoped that the wine would ease Christine into a bit of a looser feeling so that when he actually did what he needed to, it wouldn't be as painful.

Kelly sat on an original 1920's sofa. It, too, was in mint condition as was everything in Sharpe's house. She took the wine and sipped it, "So what exactly's going to happen?"

Christine took the wine, but didn't drink it. "The only thing we can do. Change me."

Kelly practically spat her wine out, "You're doing what?! Wait wait wait! WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN?!" She looked from Christine back to Sharpe and back to Christine, "And what about me?!"

Sharpe sighed, "For Christine this is more than just turning someone into a vampire, this is the start of the journey back to who she once was. To where she properly belongs. I know she'll take to the change well, but I'm not sure about you. I've never turned anyone who's strictly a mortal before."

"Can we just do this?" Christine said almost bitterly. "My nerves are all over the place."

"Drink up dear." Sharpe said, "The transformation will be easier."

Kelly swallowed the rest of her wine and waited to find out what happened.

Sharpe sighed, before moving, so quickly that neither Christine or Kelly could see, and latched onto Christine's neck. Her blood filled his mouth as he clamped down and as he drank more and more of it, he felt a life inside of him that he hadn't felt in a very long time. It was sweet, it made him feel alive, feel warm, his skin returned to a normal human pink. He could feel the beat of her heart slowing and slowly he pulled himself away from her neck. He looked down at her. She was near unconciousness as she laid, preparing to die. Sharpe looked up at Kelly for a moment before looking back down to her and cutting his wrist so that blood flowed from his wrist into the slight openning made by Christine's mouth.

Kelly watched in amazement. It was just like it was in all the books she'd read. All of Anne Rice's stories had it right. She didn't even move through the whole thing, just watched, awe-struck as the Sharpe drained Christine of nearly every drop of blood.

Christine felt nothing and everything at the same time. The blood in her mouth was like nothing else, as it dripped down her tongue. She slowly latched onto Sharpe's arm as her neck throbbed. The pain was pushed by the urge to drink.

Sharpe could feel his blood leaving his body as Christine latched on. He began to make a face as though in pain before he pulled his arm back from Christine's mouth. The force with which he pulled was enough to throw him against the wall. He sat there, nursing his arm while he watched Christine's reaction.

Kelly looked worried as Christine broke into convultions, but understood what was happening. All her reading of her Anne Rice books had taught her what was happening to her friend.

Sharpe watched knowing that it wouldn't last more than a few minutes.

Christine could feel her fangs grow in before they retracted out of sight. The pain faded slowly as lay there. Suddenly she gasped, opening her eyes. Everything looked so much sharper as she sat up. She felt stronger and more aware, yet she needed something more.

"How do you feel?!" Kelly asked, not even trying to hide the excitement in her voice.

Sharpe stood up and walked over before squatting next to Christine. She looked so beautiful, just like she had when Sharpe had met her. All the memories came flooding back as he gently took her face in his hands and gazed into her eyes.

Sharpe smiled as the two walked out the door to his house and drove back into the city to find Christine a meal. Sharpe, as a rule, never went after anyone who was not an enemy or was not otherwise an "evil-doer".

Kelly followed along, learning everything she could. She was loving this! She was in her own dark little world, and she loved it.

Christine's nerves jumped at every passing human. Yet she had no longing for Kelly's blood. She would have ask Sharpe why, but not right now.

Sharpe parked at a local pizza parlor and told Kelly to get some food before he and Christine took a walk around the block to find a suitable meal for her.

Kelly looked at Sharpe and sighed before pulling out her ipod and walking into the pizza place.

"Because you are good." Sharpe said, "Because you aren't out to kill humans for sport. Since Kelly is a friend, and close one, you will feel no desire to feed from her."

Sharpe watched a middle aged man walk down the alley and through the parking lot. It was obvious he was up to something. Sharpe tapped Christine on the shoulder, "That one. He's up to something!"
